Karl Deutsch Award
Karl Deutsch Award is the highest award in the field of comparative politics, or even political science in general. It is awarded by the International Political Science Association (IPSA) in every year when an IPSA World Congress of Political Science is held, i.e. every three years,〔(Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs )〕 and the recipient would present the Karl Deutsch lecture or leads a special session at the World Congress.〔(Official homepage of IPSA introducing the Award )〕 The purpose of the award is to honour a prominent scholar engaged in the cross-disciplinary research in the study of the field.〔(Conference )〕 It was named after the prominent political scientist Karl Deutsch.〔
The award should not be confused with the "Karl Deutsch Award" awarded by International Studies Association. The latter award bears the same name but award to only outstanding scholars in the field of international relations under 40.〔(Karl Deutsch Award of ISA )〕

The award was first awarded in the World Congress in 1997, in the memory of Karl Deutsch, a leading political scientist and the president of ISPA from 1976-1979, who died in November 1992.〔 The purpose of the Karl Deutsch Award is to honour a prominent scholar engaged in the cross-disciplinary research of which Karl Deutsch was a master.〔〔
